EF-24 electric crew transfer vessel

Project: EF-24 electric crew transfer vessel

Partners: Artemis Technologies, Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult

Funding: Clean Maritime Demonstration Competition Round 4 (CMDC4), Department for Transport (DfT) & Innovate UK (following development in CMDC1, CMDC2 and CMDC3)

Details:

This industry-led research and development project aims to deliver a real-world demonstration of Artemis Technologies’ first 24-passenger E-CTV.

With funding from the DfT and Innovate UK, the project will see the vessel tested in real-world conditions at multiple UK offshore wind farms. This will not only prove the EF-24’s performance, but also its ability to operate safely while facing extreme wind and tides.

Onshore charging infrastructure is also being developed to provide overnight vessel charging, enabling the EF-24 to perform a full commercial operation cycle.

Expected outcomes:

The initiative marks a pivotal step towards decarbonising offshore wind operations and maintenance. By demonstrating the real-life application of E-CTVs, a successful real-world demonstration will help pave the way towards a truly transformative low-carbon solution.
