What can’t an E-CTV do without?🔋
e-Ginny has now been fitted with over 3 megawatt-hours (MWh) worth of marine batteries from Corvus Energy. There are 420 batteries in total, fitting snuggly into the vessel’s retrofitted battery compartment lined by Firemaster FM Plus insulation, from Morgan Advanced Materials.
Batteries installed, next step was to connect them up to e-Ginny’s internal electronic and control systems.
With the electronics hooked up, next comes the commissioning process. This involves connecting the controllers to e-Ginny’s electronic equipment, Artemis Technologies’ charging system and the Volvo Penta propulsion units. They will be verified, tested and certified by Mecal (on behalf of the Maritime & Coastguard Agency) to ensure that everything performs correctly and meets the required safety standards.
Watch this space for more info on e-Ginny’s commissioning, after she’ll move back to Alicat and taken out the water for IPS laser alignment and a full repaint!
