On the edge of our seats

We’re nearly there!

It’s been a busy summer so far for e-Ginny. Since being towed to Goodchild Marine at Burgh Castle earlier in the year, she’s undergone a number of further updates and completion is scheduled for September!

The bridge console is really taking shape, and the vessel is now ready for the all-important dual seat helm – with the operator chairs from Seat Innovation delivered and ready for installation.

You may remember from our last update that we were in the process of sourcing fire insulation compliant with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). For further context, Annex 1 of Workboat Code 3 mandates a particularly stringent fire retardancy which was difficult to source. Now in, we can start installing the batteries.

We’re happy to announce that Goodchild Marine has installed Firemaster FM Plus from Morgan Advanced Materials. This specialist material is certified to the required fire safety standards for WB3 compliance and will ensure that e-Ginny operates with the highest levels of safety.

Below you’ll see where the batteries can be safely housed.

Now, e-Ginny is getting ready for the final leg of her journey, with over 3.4 megawatt-hours (MWh) of marine batteries from Corvus Energy due to arrive next month.

We’re also well underway installing the onboard kit to facilitate Charge Offshore’s Aquarius ECO charging system, which will not only allow e-Ginny to charge up her batteries shoreside, but also draw power directly from wind turbines for true net zero operations.

Stay tuned for further updates and pictures of e-Ginny’s cutting-edge charging system!
